Porch Lamp Fine Homes Company Ltd. ("Porch Lamp", "we", "us") builds custom homes and detached garages and takes on renovations in Calgary and area. This policy explains what personal information we collect through porchlamp.ca, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Questions go to Jake Fluker at [email protected] or 403-589-6614.
What you send us. When you use our contact form, we receive your name and email address, and anything else you choose to add: phone number, where the property is, what you're planning, whether you have land, your timeline and your message. If you email or call us, we keep what you share in that conversation.
Automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the site you came from. Some of this comes from cookies (see below), and some from security tools that protect the site from attacks.
We don't ask for payment details, government ID numbers or other sensitive information through the website.
We use what you send us to reply to your enquiry, talk through your project and prepare an estimate. If you become a client, we use it to plan and manage your build.
We use the technical information to keep the site secure and working, and to understand in general terms which pages people find useful.
We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the website and reply to you:
These providers may store information outside Alberta, including in the United States, where it can be subject to local laws. We don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use them to measure how the site is used through Google Analytics: which pages are visited, for how long, and roughly where visitors are from. This information is grouped and doesn't tell us who you are.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site still works without them.
If you don't go ahead with a project, we delete your enquiry within 2 years. If you become a client, we keep project records for as long as we need them for warranty, legal and tax purposes.
Access to enquiries is limited to Porch Lamp and our web developer. The website and its accounts are protected with passwords, security software and regular updates.
You can ask us to:
Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Jake Fluker is responsible for privacy at Porch Lamp. Reach him at [email protected] or 403-589-6614.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
